The designs celebrate the union of the English and Scottish thrones in 1603 under James VI of Scotland, who became James I of England after Elizabeth I. Francis Drake’s famous galleon, the Golden Hind, framed by the 12 stars of the European Union.
All pieces in this collection feature the warning terms TRIAL · ESSAI · PRUEBA · MUSTER to denote that they are strictly non-circulating medals rather than government-sanctioned legal tender.
